Youth Parliament Malaysia uses Party List Proportional Representationsystem, where voters cast their votes for parties. The number of seats obtained by each party is determined based on the total votes received by that party.

Each party must nominate PBMy Members of Parliament according to the respective states. If it fails to do so and the number of members is insufficient, the party will be disqualified from the election.
