PBMy Parliamentary Candidate

Eligibility Criteria for PBMy Parliamentary Candidates

The following are the requirements that must be met to qualify as a parliamentary candidate.

Additional Criteria

    1. Must join a party that is registered with PBMy.
    2. “Must be nominated by the party’s Supreme Working Council (MKT).
    3. Approved by LTU

The LTU reserves the right to disqualify any candidate who does not meet the eligibility requirements.

Requirements for PBMy Member of Parliament Candidates

Nomination Procedure Flow

Each party registered in the e-PBMy system must submit a list of candidates arranged according to priority to represent their party in the parliamentary system of the Malaysian Youth Parliament.

The party prepares a list of candidates according to the number of state seats.

Candidate List

The list is submitted to the PBMy Secretariat for review.

Official Portal

The list of candidates is announced on the PBMy portal for public viewing.

Nomination Process

Follow the steps below for a complete and valid nomination process:

  1. Submission of the candidate list to the PBMy Secretariat according to the number of parliamentary seats in their respective states.
  2. Candidates must meet all nomination requirements.
  3. Requirements for representative balance in the candidate list focusing on inclusivity and diversity, including women, rural youth, Orang Asli and indigenous youth of Sabah and Sarawak, youth with disabilities (OKU), and youth from minority religious and ethnic groups.
  4. Ensuring that the order of candidate priority does not marginalise minority groups to lower positions.
  5. The list of candidates will be uploaded to the official PBMy portal for public viewing.
  6. Withdrawal of candidates after nomination is not allowed except under specific circumstances with the approval of the secretariat.

Inclusive Youth Representation

PBMy promotes inclusive youth representation, ensuring diverse voices are present within the Youth Parliament system. We encourage parties to nominate candidates from a wide range of backgrounds.

Women

A 30% women’s quota in politics is advocated to strengthen democracy and ensure inclusive representation.

Rural Youth

Ensuring the participation of rural youth in politics to gain exposure to new knowledge and expand their networks.

Indigenous Peoples & Native Communities

Ethnic minorities are encouraged to participate fully to ensure their voices are heard.

Persons with Disabilities

Encouraging the participation of Persons With Disabilities (PWD) in politics to ensure their voices are represented and to prevent this group from being left behind.
